This is a live recording of a Slow and gentle yoga class. The first track is 45 minutes and starts with settling, then an embodied check-in and gentle movements. The second track is a breathing practice followed by an introductory Yoga Nidra.
Slow and Gentle Yoga
-
Simple breathing practices to gently correct dysregulated breathing patterns and enhance functional breathing.
-
Gentle floor or bed-based yoga movements for developing sensory awareness to improve interoception (awareness of internal body sensations) and proprioception (sense of body position), reducing tension and promoting easier movement.
-
Developing the art of pacing to effectively manage fatigue and post-exertional malaise.
-
Accessible, meditation, and deep relaxation techniques to support physiological processes, including nervous system function and inflammatory response.
-
Mindful awareness, learning to observe and change how you relate to thoughts and worries.
I’ve been teaching yoga for people living with ME, CFS and fatigue related conditions for over 16 years (and more recently, those with Long Covid and Post Exertional Malaise). I have also been working with Sheffield Hallam University and an NHS service provider on a research project to develop yoga programs for people with Long Covid.
My Slow, Gentle Yoga for Pacing and Deep Rest, Meditation, and Yoga Nidra classes are all offered online, so you don’t need to travel. Being at home, you can fully control your environment—whether you prefer to keep your camera on or off, lie down, or even practice from bed or use a chair. Regular pauses for check-ins are part of the practice, and it’s encouraged to do the movements in your imagination as a starting point and to take a break before it is needed. Join the chat at the start or end of the class—or not—whatever feels right for you.
Class Approach
These classes create a safe, supportive space where pacing is key. Doing less is encouraged, with gentle guidance provided to help you tune into your body and mind. We focus on developing interoception and proprioception, which are vital for health and wellbeing. You can read more about these terms in my blog article here
